March 30, 2015 - Ruger has been sold.  His name is now Yadi.  We have decided to repeat the breeding next month since we already have people reserving pups from an Urf/Kata breeding. They certainly did produce a great litter and we expect the repeat to be no different.

Lots to Experience

K9 Defense Academy Training Day

Fun at the Park

March 21, 2015 - The weather has gotten nicer as the month as progressed.  Stoger has gone to his new home with Rick and Trina Mobley and is now Riddikk. We are excited to see Riddikk in Mobley's capable hands.  It will be fun to watch as Riddikk's training progresses.

Ruger is still waiting to go to some lucky family. He is a beautiful puppy and will be a gorgeous, stately dog! Monica Cochrane has taken him to her place for obedience training, socialization and exposure to a huge variety of new experiences. He is handling his situation with confidence and enthusiasm. Monica owns Remington, another one of the litter mates. Monica is excellent at spending lots of quality time with the pups, not only with structured training, but also exposure to numerous scenarios.  We are following suite as much as possible with Magnum and Sig. They learn to be very accepting of new experiences. Of course, bite work is part of the training for all of the pups as well so they are kept quite busy.

March 1, 2015 – The puppies will be 10 weeks old tomorrow.  Their attention span is getting noticeably longer. Their self-confidence and friendly attitude makes them pleasant to be work with.  We are still dealing with enough snow to limit any outside activities with the pups to mainly just trudging around to wear some energy off. They are starting to look more like little dogs than little bears now.

Friday, February 20, 2015  - The pups are becoming very adventuresome and independent so they are getting harder to keep up with when turned loose as a group.  The time has probably come for more one on one anyway.  More bad weather tonight, ugh!

Wednesday, February 18, 2015 – Another 2 -3 inches of snow last night.  The puppies are still enjoying it immensely.  I am good with the cold and snow now! I’m ready for some warm spring weather

February 16, 2015 – Woke to about 6 or more inches of snow on the ground and single digit temperatures. Feels like we’re back in Minnesota. We took the pups out for their first romp in the snow and they dove in without hesitation, absolutely loving it!  They plowed through with their noses and bounced and played until they were coated in snow. It was such fun to watch their enthusiasm.  They are 8 weeks old today and weigh 20 to 21 pounds each.  Tonight was their final de-worming for now.

Monday, February 9, 2015 – We loaded the four exuberant boys up for their first ride in a vehicle to meet Monica with Remington, and Jeff with Kayta at the veterinarian’s office for microchip implants and the 4 boys first set of puppy shots.  Rem and Kayta had their shots the day after each went to their new homes. They are 7 weeks old today! Sig didn't enjoy the trip as much as the others.

Sunday, February 8, 2015 – The weather is gorgeous lately!!  Monica brought Remington over for a play day with his brothers.  We all enjoyed plenty of fun in the fresh air and sunshine!

February 4, 2015 - Wendy and Jeff Beckman and their two children came tonight to pick up Kayta.  Once again, we feel confident that she will do well with her new family.  Like Remington, Kayta will not be the only German Shepherd in their household.  We’re down to the 4 boys.

February 2, 2015 - The pups are 6 weeks old today! They run and play daily with unbridled enthusiasm. At 10-1/2 months old, Kate is overflowing with energy also.  She is doing well at learning to be obedient.  It’s still fun to watch even the older dogs run and play though and fortunately we have plenty of room for them to do that.  Kudos to those who are able to keep their dogs well exercised while living in town! Another round of de-worming.  They all weighed 12 to 13 pounds each.

Thursday, January 29, 2015 - Monica took Rem home with her today. I have no worries that he will be well cared for and she will do an excellent job with his training.  Best of all, we will be able to watch his progress.  Monica has done an excellent job with the training of her older female German Shepherd.  Monica is also quite active with a local K9 training group.

Monday, January 26, 2015 – Today the puppies are 5 weeks old!  They are very active!!  They are all 9 to 10 pounds each already.  They are all so cute and outgoing. We get them out for a run every day. They are becoming rather independent.   We let Urf run some energy off them before even trying to keep their attention on us for any length of time.

Friday, January 23, 2015 – The pups are starting to eat more and more of a beef and liver liquefied mush and we are giving Kata much longer breaks away from them now. She is an absolutely perfect mother and a lovely dog to be around.  She is exuberantly playful, but listens well and is very sharp with her response to commands. She has surprised those who have worked with her on a sleeve at how powerful her bite is. Kata is a tremendously athletic dog!  She and Urf have great fun together.  Urf is an “easy keeper” making it virtually impossible to keep him under 100 pounds, but he is extremely healthy and energetic. He is simply a large boned, massive boy.

January 19, 2015 – The pups are 4 weeks old today! We de-wormed them all again this evening.

Thursday, January 22, 2015 – To our total surprise, Remington’s ears have stood straight up over night! Some of the others are starting to come up as well. They are starting to look more like little dogs, but are still bear-like enough for them to remain adorable!

Friday, January 9, 2015 – After receiving inquiries about started young dogs, we have decided to raise and start 2 of the male pups, one black and one sable. We call the 4 remaining male pups;  Ruger, Magmun, Stoger and Sig.

Sunday, January 18, 2015 - We took the pups outside for the first time today.  They also met Urf for the first time, and vise versa.  The pups are exceptionally bold and outgoing.  They charge into new situations with fearless confidence.  Urf was very gentle and careful not to step on any pups.  It was also the first attempt at feeding them a milky mash.  They tasted and walked in it, but Kata ended up eating the majority of it.

Thursday, January 8, 2015 - Puppies are getting around pretty good now.  They are also starting to bark and growl a little.  Being quite substantially built pups, they strongly resemble little bear-cubs and their mannerisms make them even more cub-like. They are incredibly cute!

Monday, January 5, 2015 – Puppies are 2 weeks old today! We de-wormed them for the first time and also de-wormed Kata. All pups weighed between 3-1/2 and 4-1/2 pounds each. They are all round and healthy.

Monica Cochran has picked out and purchased the solid black male puppy. She, and her daughter Rayna, decided to call him Remington (Rem for short). Monica, Rayna (and occasionally other members of their family) come to visit us frequently.  They are certainly helpful with human socialization at a young age.  The female was sold before she was born, with some buyers left waiting for females from a return breeding. Jeff and Wendy Beckman were the folks lucky enough to be in line.  They didn’t hesitate to secure their position. Beckman’s decided to call her Kayta.

Friday, January 2, 2015 – Pups are 11 days old and just starting to open their eyes.

For the first 10 days the puppies were mainly eating, sleeping and growing.

Soon after Kata arrived to her home with us, we bred her to Urf.  On December 22, 2014 their six puppies were born, 5 males and 1 female.  Pedigree Three of the pups are sable and the other three black.
